New Harbor Capital Portfolio Company Access Infusion Care Completes Acquisition of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties
Acquisition expands AIC’s presence in new and underserved Mississippi market
New Harbor Capital (“New Harbor”) announced today that its portfolio company Access Infusion Care (“Access”, “AIC”) has completed the acquisition of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties (“HCMIS”, “the Company”), a Mississippi-based comprehensive provider of home and ambulatory infusion services. This acquisition marks AIC’s second add-on in partnership with New Harbor and is an integral part of advancing AIC’s mission to deliver accessible, patient-centered infusion therapy in communities with limited access to specialty care across the United States.
Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties was founded in 2001 in Jackson, Mississippi, and employs a multi-modal strategy that includes an ambulatory infusion center, ambulatory infusion suite, and home infusion services. HCMIS was founded with an initial focus on providing diabetic supplies and services to home health patients. In 2015, HCMIS expanded to establish its infusion pharmacy for home IV therapy and specialty injectables. Its clinical staff consists of a team of pharmacists and nurses across a variety of specialties.
By combining HCMIS’s experienced team and statewide network with Access’s resources and support, the partnership will enhance their collective ability to deliver coordinated care, simplify insurance processes, and expand treatment options across Mississippi. With the addition of HCMIS to its family of companies, Access Infusion Care now operates three brands across six locations nationwide, including Specialty Infusion Centers in Gaylord, Marquette, and Traverse City, Michigan, and Big Sky IV Care in Kalispell and Helena, Montana.
“We’re excited to add another high-quality infusion business to the Access network,” said Bo Mlnarik, Principal at New Harbor Capital. “This partnership enhances our multi-modal approach to infusion care, expands our geographic reach, and is strongly aligned with our rural infusion strategy.”
“This acquisition represents another important step in fulfilling our mission to expand access to high-quality infusion care in rural and underserved communities,” said Bruce Kutinsky, PharmD, CEO of Access Infusion Care. “As our first acquisition in the Southeast, it underscores our commitment to becoming the leading infusion provider in rural markets nationwide.”
“Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties has long been dedicated to reducing health disparities for patients facing significant barriers to infusion care through our comprehensive care team and ability to serve patients both in suites and in-home infusion services,” said Kristi Walker, COO of Health Care Medical Infusion Specialties. “By partnering with Access, we can expand infusion options, enhance patient support, and deliver trusted care to more people across the state, while retaining the autonomy and community-level presence that allowed us to be successful to date.”
