New Harbor Capital Welcomes New Leaders

Great companies need sophisticated leadership and strategic guidance to navigate accelerated growth. The New Harbor team continues to focus on building out our boards with industry experts as well as finding the best senior leadership for our portfolio companies. We welcome several new industry-leading executives to our portfolio.

Dana Fiser will join NY Kids Club as the new CEO. Dana brings a wealth of experience in leading multi-location, client-focused organizations. Previously the Global CEO at Jenny Craig, Dana transformed the company into a leading international weight loss brand. Dana also served as CEO of Metabolic Research Centers. Dana will oversee growth and development of the NY Kids Club’s 15 New York locations, including its proprietary curriculum and forthcoming national expansion.

Ken Kelly joined Community Psychiatry as President. Ken brings a strong healthcare background to his new role, with prior positions at Pacific Pulmonary Services and DaVita. His extensive marketing and operations expertise will be valuable as he leads Community’s expansion into new markets.

Katie Palencsar has joined Certica Solutions as Chief Solutions Strategist. Katie was previously the CEO of Unbound Concepts, which was acquired by Certica in June. She will focus on bringing content discovery solutions to Certica’s growing network of edtech partners and publishers and will expand Certica’s solutions group to encompass the breadth of the company’s platform services.

Greg Smith has joined Certica as Executive Vice President, Sales, bringing over thirty years of sales, marketing and operational leadership experience with companies in the cybersecurity, SaaS and enterprise software sectors. Greg was recently VP of Sales and Marketing at software security provider Security Innovation.

Michael Locke has joined Certica’s Board of Directors. Michael is a member of the New Harbor Capital Executive Advisor Team and Managing Partner at Giles Richard LLC, a Chicago-based firm that provides investment capital and management services to technology companies. Michael spent more than twenty years in key roles in education-related businesses, most recently as CEO of Rasmussen Inc., a higher education technology services company.

Warren Weiss, General Partner at Foundation Capital, has also joined Certica’s Board of Directors as an independent director. Warren has been a CEO of both public and private companies in the enterprise software market, including Strategic Mapping, Inc., SQribe, Prism Solutions and Asera. For the past fifteen years, he has been an early-stage investor in several Silicon Valley start-up companies in the security, infrastructure and SaaS sectors.​
